Hi Monty As you may already be aware, I failed to make the session at Mr. P's this afternoon at 4pm. That is not to say that I did not make the effort. Indeed, I arrived at the Estate at approximately 3.50pm. My arrival was greeted with interest (especially in my guitar) from a group of hooded youths, one of whom seemed to be experimenting with a switch-blade of some kind. Whilst I managed to evade them, my approach to Mr. P's flat was far from encouraging. The tenement is an extremely delapitated building. The stairwell was covered in urine AND faeces, and many of the windows were smashed in. Several slogans graffiti'd on the walls did little to bolster my confidence. On the realisation that I would be leaving this place shortly before dusk, and the reminiscence of some recent headlines about a fatal knifing between two of the estates gangs (at a wedding reception if I remember correctly), I'm afraid I bottled out. Having been the victim of a recent mugging, I simply did not want to take the risk again, and the appeal of earning money that I desperately need quickly evaporated. So I turned back round and left. I was bade farewell with a football to the temple from a young boy.
I am sincerely sorry for letting down Mr. P, and I can only sympathise that he has to raise his children in such a hostile environment, but I'm afraid I do not wish to return to the Estate. I am sorry also if this leaves a slur on the reputation of your agency's reliability. I hope this does not tarnish our future working relationship. I am still keen to do some tutoring, especially of the academic variety, but this was just a bit much for my first assignment. Please forgive me, and send my apologies to Mr. P. Sincerely, Roger The End
